Kickstarter campaign for "A Quiet Revolution" Windham Hill Records
kck.st/3KSBcHb (Kickstarter link) Windham Hill Fans: I'm excited to be helping out with what promises to be a great documentary about a great (Palo Alto) record company with which I had a wonderful relationship in the days of the New Varsity. We were able to document so many of the artists there, as it was a bit like home for many of them, especially Michael Hedges and Tuck and Patti. Please dig down deep, if you are able, to help these seasoned documentarians tell the story of Windham Hill Records. Donations at this link: kck.st/3KSBcHb

This tune features some of Thomas' unique polyrhythmic "scratch" technique and absolutely rocks. It was great to get to know Professor Leeb at Cal Arts where he teaches guitar and world music. My talk with Thomas about Michael Hedges, Calum Graham, his own music, his life as a family man and professor can be found here ua-cam.com/video/uklJ5xcrfFQ/v-deo.html. Enjoy!

Michael Hedges fan and phenomenal musician Thomas Leeb performs 3 of his tunes, talks about his style, his influences, and about how that middle part in Aerial Boundaries is SO damn hard. I got a wonderful tour around Cal Arts, the Disney founded college for the Arts where Thomas now teaches guitar and World Music. Thomas' hometown in Austria is the site for his workshop in July every year, wel...

The French master at the iconic Santa Monica, Ca. guitar shop where he first performed in 1979. Here is his show from May, 4, 2024. My first effort documenting Pierre was during a show I produced with Michael Hedges in 1984. All four opportunities I've had to document him are on this channel. Enjoy!

Just a taste of last night's show. If you have a chance to see Pierre in concert, do not miss it. He is truly wonderful. His website has all the tour info, and as well, there are currently 3 spots left for his workshop in August at his home outside of Paris.

When my former Mendocino neighbor, Nathaniel, is not busy with his college studies, he has been doing a deep dive into DADGAD and Pierre Bensusan. Last night, before a wonderful, sold out show at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, Ca., Pierre gave a listen to Nathaniel's progress, and commented.

In concert with Michael Hedges. Michael's set can be found (parsed) earlier on my channel. This concert was not long after they first met though Hedges had been a fan for several years. We were excited to get to shoot Pierre in Mendocino and Willits decades after this New Varsity show, both of which are up here on my channel.

♡CROZ: Hedges had an arrangement of "My Country 'Tis Of Thee" tagged on the end of his song "Holiday" on Watching My Life Go By, which is about caskets coming home from war. I asked him to record a guitar track of it so I could sing it. I loved the changes he put to it and the way it felt. It's beautiful. 🇺🇸MY COUNTRY 'TIS OF THEE - David Crosby (1:57) ➡ ua-cam.com/video/bET_OGhQxjE/v-deo.html (words: Samuel Smith - music: traditional/arr. 🔔🇺🇸Holiday(Michael Hedges)🔔 Relax, get away from it all No solutions seem to last(These illusions will not last) It's a holiday, wear a smile Put on a celebration mask (It's a holiday - we're lost behind confusion's holy mask) Take off, leave a trail Let the children wave their sparklers through the sky It's a holiday But if the fuses get too short, they won't ask why they won't ask why If you hover above your enemy(enemies) And you're ready to send your aluminum boxes down It's a holiday Send the soldiers on a one-way weekend pass (Some soldiers on a one-way weekend pass; he's on a one-way weekend pass) There's a field of blue in my memory But the stars reform (explode) and the stripes begin to fade For the holiday When the world turns independence day at last At last My country, ’tis of thee Sweet land of liberty Of thee I sing (Of thee I sing) Land where my fathers died Land of the pilgrims’ pride From every mountainside Let freedom ring Let freedom ring Let it ring Let it ring 🔔

It was a genious move to film this !!! It will help the transcription of Tuck's arrangements and will allow more guitar players to play Tuck's music. I wish more people had filmed performances of Ralph Towner, Michael Hedges, Joe Pass.

Nice idea. Great to see so many of the WH artists interviewed here. As was correctly stated, WH came along at the right time and place. I think, in the wake of the disco era, etc. many people were looking for something fresh and new. WH supplied that need. But it's more than that. The music itself was so creative and so well done, not to mention expertly recorded and produced, that it so easily generated a loyal following. I don't think we'll ever see any out-of-the-mainstream musical 'movement' like that again. All that said, however, after reading through all the various donation levels and perks associated with them, I was turned off. Just seems too tacky for my taste. The fans helped make WH what it became. Doesn't seem right to now solicit funding from them to make a movie. Watching the kickstarter video (which was quite good actually) is enough. Probably all the interviews with WH musicians that I'd ever care to see are already available on youtube.
